Health

Many Maya villages, especially the most remote ones, lack health facilities. Even the few villages with health facilities lack personnel and adequate supplies. Transportation for health care is difficult and expensive, and may be impossible for emergencies.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  1. Funds should be sought for TMCC to study the need for health care in our communities, so that the problem can be effectively addressed.
  2. Our traditional Maya healers should be involved in providing health care in the villages.
  3. Government should be encouraged to commit funds to Maya health care needs.
