We are delighted to announce that Professor John Chiang has been elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) — one of the most prestigious honors in the weather, water, and climate sciences. This distinction recognizes his outstanding contributions to advancing atmospheric and related sciences, technologies, applications, and services for the benefit of society. Notably, fewer than two-tenths of one percent of AMS members attain this rank through a competitive nomination and selection process.
Professor Chiang’s research focuses on large-scale tropical atmosphere–ocean (and increasingly land) systems and their interactions with the global climate. He investigates climate dynamics, variability, and paleoclimate, particularly the tropics’ role in responding to and amplifying climate forcings.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Chiang on this well-deserved honor!
