We’re proud to share that two of our graduate students, Tamara Jamil and Andrea Lara-Garcia, have been selected for highly competitive research fellowships from The Bancroft Library, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements.
Tamara Jamil has been awarded the Arthur J. Quinn Memorial Fellowship, established in memory of Professor of Rhetoric Arthur Quinn (1942–1997). This year-long fellowship supports research by doctoral candidates focused on the history of California. The fellowship will enable Tamara to conduct sustained, archival research at the Bancroft Library from July 2025 through June 2026. As part of the fellowship, Tamara will also present her research at a Bancroft Roundtable during the 2025–26 academic year—an engaging public forum showcasing Bancroft researchers.
Andrea Lara-Garcia has received the Bancroft Library Summer Study Award, which supports advanced graduate students from across the University of California system. Funded by the Friends of The Bancroft Library, this award provides crucial resources for summer research using the Bancroft’s unparalleled collections.
Congratulations to Tamara and Andrea on these well-deserved honors!
