Biography

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Geography and the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society at UC Berkeley. I work on maritime logistics, the oceanographic sciences, and the history of empire. My research has been supported by the Fund for Labor and Culture, the Berkeley Economy and Society Initiative, the American Philosophical Society, and the Katherine S. and James K. Lau Fellowship in Climate Equity, among others. I work with Jake Kosek, Michael Watts, David Bates (Rhetoric), and Deborah Cowen (University of Toronto, Geography). I am an editor at Qui Parle.
